Endangered Species Research
As the Knights students began reading the novel Hoot by Carl Hiaasen in their Language Arts classes, they researched an endangered species in their Science and English classes. This research experience gave them the opportunity to utilize both digital and print media and a variety of technology including NoodleTools.com and newly acquired Chromebooks. In Science, students developed PowerPoint presentations and gained public speaking practice while educating their classmates. Students in English are creating a research paper using MLA style format. Knights Social Studies classes will discuss global geography and a case study regarding environmental issues in a particular region. Finally, students in Algebra Connections will choose five states from the United States of America and research the data on the number of endangered and threatened species. The math project will conclude with the creation of a double bar graph representation of the data.
