Here is an update of what the Knights students are learning in each of their core academic classes:
Algebra Connections
Students in Mr. Clonan's classes just finished up a unit on proportions. This unit involved solving various word problems using proportional reasoning skills. Currently the students are working with percents, decimals, and fractions - seeing how all three are related to one another. Before the winter break the Knights will begin their unit on Algebra!
Social Studies
Having completed the mini-unit on Bronze Age Greece, which included learning the names and attributes of the Olympian gods (the students have begun reading about Greek mythology in Language Arts class), students in Mr. Custer's classes have just begun the very important unit on the Hebrews!
Language Arts
Students in Mr. Kuharcik's Language Arts classes recently finished a unit on conflict, reading about everything from killer rats to dead puppies, and characters' struggles with nature, animals and each other. Up next - a brief unit on science fiction and fantasy before launching into our team-wide unit on Mythology! For more information about Language Arts, check out Mr. Kuharcik's teacher webpage located on the CMS homepage...
English
Mrs. Domske's students have just wrapped up an in-depth look at the writing process, concentrating on writing effective sentences to improve style. After a brief unit on singular and plural possessive nouns, students will put their descriptive writing skills to the test!
Science
In Ms. Kubik's Science classes, the Knights students are studying elements, compounds and mixtures. We just completed a lab investigating chemical and physical changes. Next we will be studying photosynthesis and cellular respiration!
